Student, University of Toronto, 2015

Rebeccah was an Obstetrics and Gynaecology resident at the University of Toronto pursuing a master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology at the Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation during her time at ICHR. Her clinical and research interests are in Indigenous women’s health and the delivery of maternity care in rural and remote regions. Rebeccah’s thesis project focused on how performance measurement can help to improve the responsiveness of the maternity care system and allow it to meet the needs of Indigenous women in Northern Canada and other Arctic regions. She first visited the North in 2006 as a volunteer with the Frontiers Foundation and absolutely fell in love with it. Rebeccah holds a BSc in biochemistry and international development studies from McGill University and an MD from the University of Toronto. Rebeccah’s support came from the CIHR Circumpolar Health Systems Innovation Team.
