Sharon A. Firth

Sharon has firsthand knowledge of the struggles Aboriginal youth face and am committed to promoting the development of programs and services that promote positive self-esteem, self-awareness, healthy choices and positive lifestyles for youth.  She currently works in the area of youth program and service delivery, assisting in the development of partnerships for cooperative youth initiatives,  supporting organizations in raising awareness of the needs of youth in the Arctic, coordinating youth functions and encouraging youth involvement.  She also instructs and promotes cross-country skiing in schools, drawing on experiences and skills as an athlete and four-time Olympian.

Speaking at events across the Northwest Territories and Canada, Sharon shares a message of motivation and excellence, as well as the principles and values she drew upon as a female Aboriginal athlete to achieve success.
