In 2003, after completing his studies in maritime security at Dalhousie University, Tim joined the Royal Canadian Navy as a Maritime Surface Officer. During his seven years in the Navy, Tim served at sea in the Navy’s frigates and destroyers. In 2006, Tim went on exchange with the Royal Australian Navy and served for a year there as a bridge watch-keeper on an Australian frigate. While serving in HMCS Algonquin, Tim met his wife, also a Maritime Surface Officer.

Tim left the Navy and in 2010 attended law school at the University of British Columbia. Tim and Melissa now call Yellowknife home and are embracing Canadian northern living. Tim now practices corporate and commercial law in the Yellowknife office of a Western Canadian regional firm. Tim advises clients on commercial transactions, joint ventures and commercial real estate. Tim also provides advice to corporate and not-for-profit clients on governance matters.
